SimplyRFiD Automates Eyewear Inventory For Eye Docs
The Problem
"If you don't know your numbers, you don't know your business," says Dr. Schunk, Owner at The Vision Source of Arlington, Texas.
Schunk, like all eye doctors, has been relying on people's memory and sales reps to replenish stock and tell him what's selling. It takes a day to inventory more than 1,000 pieces of eyewear. Now, he can do it in a few minutes.
"Independent docs are entrepreneurs at heart and passionate about making their business 'the best.'" said Carl Brown, President of SimplyRFID.
It's the typical entrepreneur's dilemma: Run and grow an exciting business, or, focus on developing systems to manage it.
The AIMS system, built by SimplyRFiD, solves this dilemma and makes a win for eye docs and operations.
The Solution
AIMS reduces an all-day inventory process to a few minutes.
Eye doctors and opticians can spend more time understanding and managing their business: more choices, better choices for customers using data collected from RFID.
Watch an overview of the AIMS system
AIMS is a turnkey package that includes an RFID and Barcode scanner (SimplyRFiD Handheld, AIMS App for iOS, and the iPhone to run the application), service, support, and RFID price tags.
The Process
RFID Tags and Tagging
Custom RFID tags are attached to the stem of the glasses. These are made specifically for tracking eyewear and pre-programmed for use with the AIMS system.
Associate
RFID tags on glasses are associated with the UPC. The UPC contains the product information, including an image of the eyewear. The glasses image helps operators locate and search for the correct frame.
Reports
With AIMS, you can figure out the hot sellers and make sure they are always-in-stock.
AIMS manages re-orders with 17 different manufacturers and can complete a typical store inventory in 3 minutes.
